Call for Nominations
Deadline extended to January 31, 2025
In recognition of the 100th Anniversary of the American Association of Geographers (AAG) in 2004, the AAG Remote Sensing Specialty Group (RSSG) established a competition to recognize “exemplary research scholar in remote sensing” among post-doctoral scientists and early career scholars in Geography and allied fields.
Sponsored by the RSSG since 2004, the Award honors individuals who are poised to make outstanding co`ntributions to the field of remote sensing and the geographic community through research, teaching, and/or outreach. The award will be announced at the AAG 2025 annual meeting during the RSSG Business Meeting and the AAG Honors Luncheon. The recipient(s) will receive a plaque designed by the RSSG.
Award eligibility is limited to RSSG members who have completed their academic degree in Geography or an allied field within 5 years of the nomination deadline. Exceptions may be granted upon review, with evidence provided for extenuating circumstances, such as family or medical leave, adverse working conditions, or for other unforeseen events. All nominations will be evaluated by an ad hoc award committee comprised of distinguished remote sensing scientists using the same standards.
The nomination/self-nomination should include:
- A nomination letter, up to 3 single-spaced pages, including the nominee’s name, affiliation, contact, eligibility, highlights of the nominee’s contributions in remote sensing research, teaching, and/or outreach, and future goals;
- A curriculum vita of the nominee.
Nominations should be submitted by 31 January 2025 via a single PDF document containing all the required materials to: Drs.
